Hey did you know this?
Abhishek was Shaad Ali’s first choice for his first film, Saathiya with Rani.
But Rani and I are special together on screen. We can feel that. It’s total masti in Bunty Aur Babli. The two of us get to do things we secretly wanted to do all our lives. We’re mischievous, wacky and one-up on everybody.”

Babli ignores Bunty
If looks could kill: Rani Mukherjee's expression says it all at the Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna music release
Besides the awards ceremony, the music release of Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna yesterday was the most anticipated event here. And Karan didn’t let anyone down. Everyone from Karan to Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and even Jaya Bachchan was dressed in white, except for Big B and his son. White flowers decorated the stage.
Only Shah Rukh Khan, the other star in the film, was absent. Karan escorted his mom, Hiroo Johar, to the event while Rani was accompanied by her mother. Abhishek came with his dad, who seemed to have put his tax worries behind him, sister Shweta and her two children.
There was some awkwardness when Rani studiously ignored Abhishek Bachchcan (probably because of the media spotlight) and went up to warmly hug Jaya Bachchan and Hiroo. Someone whispered to Rani that she hadn’t spoken a word to Abhishek, but she ignored that.
Later, mom in tow, when she went up to greet Shweta, she exchanged some small talk with Abhishek who was seated next to his sis. Big B too was ignored till they were all called on stage. But Abhishek kept pulling Rani’s leg till her ice-maiden act melted and she started giggling at his jokes.
Abhishek, who was at his best with witty repartees and constant fooling around, added a light note to the event. When someone asked music directors Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy why the album started with a sad song and not a “bubbly” one, Abhishek quipped, “Because we already have a Bunty and Babli!” When Big B said, “Abhishek has not only stepped into my shoes, but sometimes runs away with them,” Abhishek promptly raised his boot-shod leg, as if to say he has run away even with that one.
When someone asked Karan about the “chemistry” between his stars he said, “My films deals with extra-marital relationships, so I hope there won’t be chemistry.” But he adds, “The film deals with controversial issues like extra-marital affairs and other grey areas very seriously. There were times when we wondered whether we would be able to pull off certain situations with dignity. Whether they would be accepted and how far could we push the envelope without tearing it. I hope we have done a good job.”
The promos were in trademark Karan style — rich in emotions and powerfully touching dialogues. Infact, Big B even asked for a repeat of the promos.
