"The kiss with Kamal Haasan (in Hey! Ram) was mechanical. He was constantly checking the right angle. Where was the passion?" "I don't party, I don't get drunk and I don't have affairs. So all my passion goes into my work." "Kamal Hassan re-invented the actress in me after the 'Hey Ram' experience." "When Karan wanted my voice to be dubbed for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', I really thought that it was bad and very husky and rough, but slowly I worked to improve my diction, and am now quite comfortable with it." "You sign two films with a hero and it's said you're having a scene with him. Please, the only scenes I'm into are in front of the camera." "Why should I try to imitate Kajol? I am not a mimicry artist." "It's frustrating for the media to see me going about my work like Florence Nightingale - They'd like me to be Rangeeli Rani." "I'd never trade my dad's house, even for Buckingham Palace. I'm very sentimental about living with my parents." "I'd rather have a room full of cuddly teddy bears than a diamond necklace in a safe deposit locker." On her character in The Rising (2005): "See, my role started as a cameo. I was supposed to play the widow Jwala's character - yes, the one Aishwarya Rai was supposed to have done. Now Amisha Patel is doing that. When I read the script, I fell in love with the small role of the prostitute. There were two or three very good scenes. The script underwent a change, and I got more space than before. But it's still a cameo - nothing like what Smita Patil did with Ketan Mehta in Mirch Masala, though I wish had." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found this in www.imdb.com

Likes & dislikes of the Bollywood Queen
Rani Mukherjee. Her amber eyes could seduce a saint. They've already seduced every filmmaker and co-star. Lata Khubchandani meets this Arien for a quick chat.
Arien? Yes, she replies, holding herself tall. I am quite the angry young woman! Sometimes she adds spoiling the dignified posture, "Actually, I'm a very sweet girl."
Suddenly she bursts into an Aamir Khan-like laugh. And you tell her this. She insists, “Please tell Aamir Khan this and see what he says!”
With barely three films in her kitty Rani Mukherjee had jolted the throne of that massive talent Kajol and you ask what it felt like to be compared to her own cousin? She responds quickly, “Great, because not too many people are compared to her are they?”
What makes her tick? Music. Everything except ghazalas!
Clothes she favour? Clothes which allow me to forget what I'm wearing and sit as I please!
Roles she favour? Chicken rolls.
Her greatest sorrow? Mummy's habit of turning round and suddenly slapping me!
Greatest delight? When my brother Raja is furious with me and would thrash me. But it's and unwritten rule in the house that no male will touch a female. So I can realy jack my brother's hapiness!
Her most embarrassing moment? Too embarrassing to share.
How did acting happen to her? Believe it or not I started acting in order to avoid having to do machine sewing in college (SNDT) where it was mandatory. I quit college and joined film!
She's depressed by? Street children.
She's happiest when? Everybody around me is happy otherwise they tend to pull everybody down!
Acting to her is? Reacting.
Money to her means? It's something you can forget when you have it but it bothers you when you don't so one should have it!
If she were Indian Prime Minister? I'd go to sleep in order to avoid confronting the chaotic condition of the country.
God is? Kind to me!
Greatest compliment? Three-year-old's shouting “Meri Rani”
Dream Man? Unfortunately is never a reality is it? If you don't get him you're only dreaming, if you do get him you have to face the fact that reality is something different.

Fun, Food, and Frolic with Rani
She brought in a refreshing whiff of 'plumpness' into the 'hourglass-fixated' film industry.
Rani Mukerji happily admits she loves the good life: Parties that her parents don't allow her to attend; good clothes which her brother Raja designs; good friends of whom she has plenty.
And, of course, good food, which she knows she must avoid.
In fact, the sweeter the food, the more she wafts into gastronomical heaven!
Small wonder then that Rani and food are synonymous!
This Diwali, Rani talks about her second favourite subject (after acting): Food!
She says, with childlike delight, "I love food and enjoy home-cooked food. But I love junk food also."
I know I keep putting on weight, but I love to eat.
I can't be very strict about food -- no great diets for me!
Given a choice, I love home food.
My daily meal typically includes rice, Dal and Bindi Sabzi (lady's finger curry), which I love, or Rajma-Chawal or Fish And Rice.
As a kid, my favourite food was boiled rice and mashed potatoes with ghee. It is still my favourite.
I love potatoes, rice and dal. I have to have them.
I also love Butter Chicken, Rajma, Ma Ki Dal and Biryani. Though I can cook, I don't do too much of it. If I were forced to fend for myself, I would live on omelettes.
I make mindblowing omelettes, which only I can eat.
I enjoy sweets. My favourite is Payesh, the kheer my mother makes from a special gur [jaggery] that we get from Kolkata.
I like making desserts like cakes, kheer and halwa.
If I had a choice between buffets and sit-down dinners, I would opt for the latter any day.
My favourite place for a romantic dinner would be my house. I know that sounds boring, but that is where I am most relaxed.
When I go out for a meal, I enjoy Chinese and Thai cuisine.
I never pass up on Fried Rice, Chilly Chicken, American Chopsuey and Diced Chicken in Chinese Sauce.
In Thai food, I can't resist the Green Curry and the Tom Yum Soup.
I also like burgers and pizzas.
On a shooting day, breakfast consists of idlis because they are filling and don't make me too fat.
But I don't really have a fixed breakfast.
